summer is for reading

Since I am officially on "Summer Break" I have a few books that I am reading. It seems that during the year, my book stack multiplies. I seriously have no idea what that pile beside my bed does while I am not looking.

Here are a few books I am reading/will read/hope to read in the next month or so of life. (We will see how far I get)

::Girl Meets God: On the Path to a Spiritual Life
Laura F. Winner
I started this book a couple of days ago and am finding myself pulled into the story of Laura's beautiful journey. This book is compliments of my friend Rashel. She gave to to me for Christmas. In fact her family's Christmas card is the perfect bookmark. I get to see their beautiful faces every time I open and close the book.

::Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

J.K. Rowlings
Joshua and I have been reading this series at night before we go to bed. We started in January with the Sorcerer's Stone. This is the first time Josh has read these books. I reserve the right to not say how many times I have read through this series. They are great little books. We love reading them together.

::Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
J.K. Rowlings
We will most likely begin this book after finishing the one listed above. We are just crazy enough to read books in their written order. I know, I know...we are nuts!!!

::Firstlight
Sue Monk Kidd
Earlier this year I inherited a stack of books. This book was an unexpected treasure in the stack.

::Getting Involved with God: Rediscovering the Old Testament
Ellen F. Davis
One might think that this books was part of the assigned reading for the OT course I just completed. But, does that seriously sound like something I would do...

::A Scholastic Miscellany
Eugene Fairweather

::The Protestant Reformation

Hans Hillerbrand

::A Dictionary of Latin and Greek Theological Terms
Richard Muller

::The History of Doctrines
Reinhold Seeberg
Since I know a few of you are anxious to rush out and find this book for your own reading, I will caution you that this particular text is out of print.

The last four books are part of a course on Medieval and Reformation Theology that I am taking as part of my Church History block during my break. Yes, I am that hard core...school during the break. (Or, by taking this class this summer, I will be able to graduate a year early...by my 65th birthday!)

What are you reading this summer?

That's it!! I'm going to get my act together and start reading the Harry Potter series (after I finish the five other books I have on the go :oS).

Happy reading!!
